What does an imaginary body taste like? Bright colorful illustrations of imagined medical bodies illuminate school textbooks and grow into the mind’s comprehension of body. Cartoonish, sweet-looking, and clean, these illustrations formulate symbols of our discrete parts; however, these symbols operate in stark contrast with the messy, gooey reality of the flesh. Sweet Surgery clashes these two worlds into a bite-sized, edible format which offers the chance for viewers to symbolically eat themselves.
